TL;DR Use Gemini / Chromium Browser? Try my Extension to get titles on your tabs

Chairman of the Hoard

Hello I’m Kevin. And I’m a tab hoarder.1 I love it that way.

I’ve spent years feeling embarrassed of the hoard, feeling the weight of judging eyes. And feeling the sluggishness that comes with too much open on my computer.2

Nowadays I have high confidence that emerging AI tools and agents are on the way help me with this habit, enabling me to go between the different concerns.

The main way I navigate my tab hoard is the Command-Shift+A “Search Tabs” feature of Chromium (I use Brave), beaming between concerns with search, but also reaping the “last used” list that greets you as soon as you invoke the feature.

Tab search and Gemini sidebar comparison

Left: Tab search functionality showing how I navigate between different projects. Right: Gemini’s sidebar displaying auto-generated conversation titles.

And since the rise of its 2.5 Pro version, Google’s Gemini tabs have become a large proportion of my hoard.

So it’s really frustrating that every single Gemini tab has the same Generic title. Especially when, if you look in the sidebar, Google’s already spending some tokens to summarize the chat!

So I built gemini-entitled-tabs to fix this, pulling the titles from the sidebar (if it’s there) and populating your active tabs’ <title>. Now, fellow tab hoarder, your Gemini tabs will have a unique searchable title.

Call to Action!

Gemini fans: Try it! The extension should work all on Chromium browsers like Chrome (duh, but don’t), Brave (mine), Edge, Opera and so on. Try it out and let me know if you hit any issues. Looking for feedback on different browser setups and edge cases I might have missed.

And if you’re on another browser with extension capability, please collaborate with me, solving this for your setup.

This extension was “vibe coded.” (cringe) I used the Harper Reed method for pre-planning, and the AMAZING Claude Code.
